It is brilliant. A cracking book.
The art style is delicious, action-filled, colourful and the story is interesting and funny.
So what is this comic book i so suddenly have fallen in love with about?
Lucha Libre is an anthology of comic books that are written by Jerry Frissen. The comic is regularly illustrated by Gobi, Bill, Fabien M., Hervé Tanquelle, Nikola Witko along with several other guest artists (again, the style of the illustrations is superb).
There are various stories about a range of characters.
Firstly there are the Luchadores 5.
These guys are a group of 5 middle aged latino men who all don lucha libre masks and protect east L.A. They face arange of unusual and entertaining foes but are usually seen by the pulic as a group of overgrown nerds rather then a group of superheroes.
Then there is Tequila.
Tequila is another who dons a lucha libre mask and faces the daily rigors of married life in a trailer park but ends up on the run as he is framed for the death of a friend.
The Tikitis.
A team of supposedly science minded superheroes (who also wear lucha libre masks, of course) who have retired to a small island in the South Pacific and charged with preventing its strongest resident 'King Katch' from leaving the island.
There are more characters that i have yet to discover as i only have this one book and i'm sure there are a many few of these stories that have yet to be read but i can say this book has won my heart. I've already grown fond of the Luchadores five, particularly Red Demon and Dr. Pantera (though i like all 5 of them of course) and i do so like Tequila and his wife Cheryl very much. But enough talk about this, i'm sure you can go read up more information about this if you wanna know more but i must say, if you like the sound of it, buy it, it's brilliant or at least in my opinion it is.
